The XVIth World Economic History Congress was held in Stellenbosch, South Africa 9 – 13 July 2012. Hosted by the Economic History Society of Southern Africa and The Department of Economics, the WEHC 2012 welcomed more than 750 delegates attending from 55 countries.

Social events included Opening and Closing Receptions and a cultural evening for delegates and accompanying persons. Delegates were encouraged to bring their families, and an accompanying person's programme was offered.
Hosted by Stellenbosch University in the heart of the world-renowned Cape Winelands – just a short distance from the beautiful city of Cape Town – the XVIth World Economic History Congress offered participants a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of all that the Cape Winelands, Cape Town and South Africa has to offer.
